2025 Taiwan GHS Regulation Update - Detailed Version - Regulatory News - Chemicals

To align with the GHS systems of other countries, and in reference to the content of the 8th revised edition of the UN GHS, Taiwan (ROC) has revised its GHS regulations – the Classification and labelling of chemicals − General rules series of standards (CNS 15030, CNS 15030-1 to CNS 15030-29).

On April 25, 2025, Taiwan officially announced the revised Classification and labelling of chemicals − General rules (CNS 15030:2025), replacing the previous CNS 15030:2015 version. The content remains largely unchanged, with the main details found in the CNS 15030-1 to CNS 15030-29 standard documents. Since the first edition was released in 2008, there have been several revisions in recent years, with major revisions (detailed in the tables below).

The updates to these standards largely refer to the content and classification decision logic of the 8th revised edition of the UN GHS. These documents do not specify a transition period or a deadline for amendments, so enterprises should act promptly, especially concerning significant changes in classification items such as flammable gases, aerosols and pressurized chemicals, acute inhalation toxicity hazards, and desensitized explosives.
