On June 16, 2023, the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of People’s Republic of China sought opinions on 12 mandatory national standards (draft for comments), including the Safety and Technical Standards for Cleaning Products (Draft for Comments). Comments are welcomed before August 16, 2023. The Safety and Technical Standards for Cleaning Products is to replace the GB/T 26396-2011 "Safety and Technical Standards for Cleaning Products", and the nature of the document will be changed from recommended to mandatory. The recommended transitional period is 12 months.

Evolving chemical regulations such as the implementation of One Enterprise, One Product, One QR Code for hazardous chemicals in China and emerging REACH-like regulations in APAC countries are creating new regulatory challenges for chemical companies operating in China in 2023.
