South Korea Revises its Designated Toxic Substances

On October 4, 2023, the National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) in South Korea published Notice No. 2023-459 on the revision of the Designated Toxic Substances, to strengthen the administration of toxic substances.

Main revisions

1. Updates the name of the substance with the unique number “2017-1-758”; and

2017-1-758: [Triphenylsulfonium salt with 2,3-bis(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)5-sulfobicyclo [2.2.1] heptane-2,3-dicarboxylate (1:1);2064323-02-8]or mixture containing 25% and above.

2. Adding unique numbers "2023-1-1119" to "2023-1-1122";

• 2023-1-1119: [Methacrylic acid; 79-41-4] or mixture containing 5% and above;
• 2023-1-1120: [1, 3 –Bis (isocyanatomethyl)benzene; 3634-83-1]or mixture containing 1% and above;
• 2023-1-1121: [Dioctyltin dichloride; 3542-36-7] or mixture containing 1% and above; and
• 2023-1-1122: [Beryllium; 7440-41-7] or mixture containing 1% and above.

This notice will come into effect three months after its publication.
