Recently, India has made a significant decision that it will enforce stringent quality control order on Polypropylene (PP) materials for moulding and extrusion as well as Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) homopolymers. In accordance with the latest quality control order, PP and PVC should be included in the BIS mandatory certification list, to ensure that domestically produced and imported PP and PVC products meet stringent requirements and to offer consumers safer and more reliable products.
On August 8, 2023, the European Commission issued the revised amendment (EU) 2023/1608 to the European Union Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) Regulation (EU) 2019/1021. This amendment officially designates PFHxS and its salts, as well as related substances, to be listed in Annex I of the EU POPs Regulation. The revised regulation will come into effect on the 20th day from the date of publication in the official journal and will be applicable to all member states.
On July 12, 2023, the European Commission published Regulation (EU) No 2023/1442, amending the EU Food Contact Plastic Materials Regulation (EU) No 10/2011. The regulation has come into effect on August 1, 2023.
In July 2023, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued the final rule on "Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) Requirements for Asbestos Reporting and Records" which mandates specific companies to report relevant information on asbestos and asbestos-containing products (including as impurities) manufactured (including imports) or processed in the past four years.
Recently, Japan has detected sodium aluminate dioxide (CAS No.: 1302-42-7) in some imported products containing sodium aluminate (CAS number: 11138-49-1).
In accordance with the announcement of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), sodium aluminate dioxide was classified as deleterious substance under the Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Control Law (PDSCL) on July 1, 2018.
